For some reason I just LOVE to get my picture taken with cartoonish or unusual characters. Looking through my Photo Stream, I found it a bit unsettling HOW MANY pictures I have of myself with costumed witches and store mascots and pirates and taxidermied wolves. The list goes on and on.
I don’t really know why I do this. (Note to self: therapist talking point #72.) But I think it must have something to do with the fact that when I see a big pink monster, for example, for that moment I think it’s REAL, and I HAVE to record the phenomenon. AND I believe that it wants its picture taken with me–just me! We become a pair, “us.” Neal and the Pink Monster. Forever.
And it SO gets on my nerves if there are children milling about, wanting THEIR pictures taken with the monster, as if they could understand the deep, nearly spiritual connection I have with it.
Now be honest, wouldn’t you want your photo snapped with this deer?
And without fail, I think to myself, “This pic sure would look good framed!”
I fear I have passed the trait on to Grandson Daniel:
Oh well. What can you do?
