My take-a-way from last Saturday morning’s Forsyth Farmers Market here in historic district Savannah.
Have I gone vegetable crazy?
I was texting with SCF (Super Cyber Friend) Riboclavin (of course you remember him … thermometer, dying every other day) a little while ago. And, after telling him that I was preparing a cauliflower dinner …
… Riboclavin wrote, “I am SICK [appropriate for Ribo] of this weird a__ bull ___. What is ur deal? Srsly.”
I love how Ribo is so caring and kind. He’s my lil fellow. I love him.
Well, I thought about Riboclavin’s comment, and here’s my expert analysis: “The most important factor in our lives (and some of you may disagree here) is that we feel good or joyful about that which we are about.”
I FEEL GOOD about vegetables!
Here are a few pics from the Farmers Market.

Oh, and here’s tonight’s cauliflower meal:
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I REALLY love the Forsyth Farmers’ Market here in downtown Savannah. Even though it was a bit rainy this morning, I sloshed my way over to the park and marveled, as usual, at the beauty of vegetables.
The smallest (and very proficient) vegetable seller:
1. Colorful carrots, kale and lettuce from Savannah’s Forsyth Farmers’ Market.
2. Valiant knights
But dealing with it.
4. This cool video about a retiring middle school principal and his surprise flashmob tribute.
I wanna cool flashmob. When I retired from Georgia Southern University last June, I just got a plaque:
5. It’s the First Day of SUMMER!
May the Summer of 2013 be our most joyfully memorable one ever, filled with healthy treasures!
Saturday morning I stumbled out of bed (you would think someone my age could deal with morning a bit better) and walked a few blocks to Savannah’s Forsyth Park to get some fresh vegetables. (It’s spring, so I’m on my Annual Quest to get in Stellar Shape for the maybe two times I go to Tybee Island and the beach during the summer. I haven’t seen abs in forty years, but I’m such an optimist I AM NOT GIVING UP. Do you hear me?! I intend to be on the cover of Men’s Fitness one day.)
The Forsyth Farmers’ Market is the coolest gathering of local vendors offering fresh–often organic–fruits and vegetables, along with coffees, breads, honey, jams, juices, pasta, fish, beef, poultry, herbs, flowers, etc. I LOVE their statement of purpose: “The mission of the Forsyth Farmers’ Market is to promote understanding and participation in a local food system that supports sustainable production and increases access to local products.”

What joyful shopping!
