February12
Today is “Georgia Day,” which commemorates the 1733 landing of English explorer James Edward Oglethorpe and a group of settlers as they climbed up the bluff from the Savannah River onto what would become my hometown of Savannah.
(HR and I live a few streets over from that bluff.)

So Georgia is on my mind this morn. And here’s our Ray Charles singing about that very sentiment.

Does “James Oglethorpe” still speak at special occasions? I always enjoyed hearing him talk on the history of Georgia.
We had a wonderful visit and the Book Festival was, as always, terrific!! Could not believe the weather . . . best week ever! Having been in Savannah through many Februarys (ies?) this was the warmest and sunniest I’d experienced. There were times when I had to wear my Massachusetts winter coat every day!
