No Kings! Savannah Edition

wsav

Yesterday Robert and I joined 2000 other Savannah area protesters to voice a resounding “No!” to the Trump administration’s lean toward authoritarianism and strong man politics which are attempting to destroy our nation’s soul.

Inspiring and encouraging speeches, lively posters and joyful camaraderie/solidarity.

I thought I was going to have to take HR’s little megaphone away from him!

From our mayor …

And this poster expressed part of the reason I attended this incredible event …

“Let Freedom Ring, and there be No King.”

  1. Wish I could’ve joined in myself. Unfortunately, I was stuck working & not enough gas in my tank til payday to join one in Houston even if I did get off work. I read up and posted where I could to support others on the Fediverse, spread the word. I felt useless, at least til I could reach out and lend online support. Sucks to be so broke you can’t even protest in the flesh like I always wanted to do. But I’m glad others could.

Be well, folks, and continue to hope that reason, sanity, and general goodness become qualities we admire again as a nation. Be the good.

  2. I have loved Savannah since my first visit in 2000! I spent winters there for 15 years, still come for the Book Festival and still love this city. I always suspected there was a strong streak of doing the right thing buried in the heart of each and every Savannahian and to see so many turn out for the No Kings protest just reinforces my original feeling about the city and her citizens. I protested locally (in the rain, I might add) because, as an ancient crone, I witnessed the results of the rise of Nazi Germany and see the same thing happening here. In Germany, it was the Jews; here it’s immigrants. Never mind that we desperately need immigrants as a strong work force, performing jobs that are too demeaning for us white folks, paying taxes and trying to adapt in a country that looks down its collective nose at them. I don’t want to happen here what happened there. Three cheers for Savannah and her protesters!!!

  3. I’m so proud of you and Robert … and I loved the picture of you two!!! Love the signs … I’ve seen so many creative signs over the past two days! Thank you for making your voice heard, for doing your part to try to save this nation from the single most evil person ever to occupy the Oval Office!
