Five Friday Happy Bringers 2/23/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Our seasonally inappropriate yet longevity-embracing pumpkin from last fall … who simply refuses to give up the ghost.

2. Like they have done in winters past, someone “decorates” our Washington Square with newly fallen camellia blooms.

3. Our incredible digestive systems, which take the food we eat and voila! gives us energy and health. Thank you, Tummy.

4. I try to keep roses around as long as possible. Why wouldn’t you?! Here’s a reiteration (is that a word?) of some white beauties that Robert gave me on Valentine’s Day.

5. R and R. (Robert and Red.)

May this weekend bring you an extravagance of Joy.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 2/9/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Robert’s yummy Kale and Egg Breakfast Soufflé.

(Along with my clove/dill refrigerator pickles.)

2. This terrific little book HR and I recently finished.

It beautifully illustrates “trans, nonbinary and gender expansive” individuals who have made/continue to make a positive and healthy difference in our world.

3. Fallen beauty.

Pink camellias near us.

4. Friday morning at 7:36, in my pj’s and robe, lazily blogging on the couch. (Hey, I’m retired.)

5. Strolling down an alley near us and seeing a downtown (Savannah) neighbor getting a head start on Spring and Easter.

I seem to have some sort of Pink Theme going on this Friday.

So may you be Tickled Pink at least one time this weekend.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. My steaming Ham Bone Pinto Soup from leftover holiday ham.

2. The ability to Breathe. To Simply Breathe.

I believe that breathing is the greatest and continual joy of being alive.

3. My preference for blurry pictures of myself as I get older.

4. This incredible warm spell we’re having here in Savannah.

We slept with open windows last night! In January.

(Ignore the dumbbells. I do.)

5. The joy of the forest.

May your weekend be a lush forest of that which you consider good.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 1/19/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. A beautiful Martin Luther King Day parade here in Savannah.

2. Truth:

3. Grandson Gabriel’s soaring pink basketball shoes.

4. The incredible luxury of owning a car! Which like many (most?) things I usually take for granted.

Here’s ours …

Kidding.

Here it is …

(With Robert texting or something in his skinny jeans.)

Ours may be little and a bit shy, but she takes us from Point A to Point B. And even sometimes from Point A to Point Z!

5. You in all your You-ness.

May You and your You-ness find Warmth and a measure of Joy this weekend.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. January’s camellias here in Savannah.

2. I know I have expressed gratitude about this before, but isn’t it just such an incredible luxury to have Hot and Cold Running Water?!

3. This little fellow I met yesterday.

We chatted for a while. And he posed for a pic.

4. Simple sidewalk beauty.

5. A little bit of Christmas simply refusing to go away.

May weekend beauty find you.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Our little cabin on Lake Delano at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain GA over Christmas weekend.

2. HR grilling bbq chicken thighs while I watch comfortably from the cabin porch.

3. Speaking of grilling, driving to Dowdell’s Knob near the state park to see where FDR had a stone grill overlooking the Georgia hills.

Cool statue of FDR, the only one showing his paralyzed legs without braces.

Here’s the … “grill.”

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT LOVED TO PICNIC HERE, AND HE HAD THIS GRILL BUILT. IT WAS FILLED IN TO PRESERVE IT.

Well, it ain’t a Big Green Egg.

4. The Joy of Travel.

5. Surviving the hilly and creek-crossing 4.2 mile Cascade Falls Hike (a part of the 22 mile Pine Mountain Trail) on Christmas Eve.

May we all have Reason to Smile as we hike toward the end of 2023.

… blooming at just the tight time.

2. Beautifully precious grandchildren …

3. Cold and hot running water! What an incredibly tremendous blessing (which I far too often take for granted).

4. Our annual tradition of reading the delightfully nostalgic little book, A Cup of Christmas Tea and enjoying tea and cookies.

5. The reason for the season.

Have a Blessed Christmasv Weekend.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. SO enjoying last night’s Savannah Telfair Museum Christmas Tree lighting and Design District Holiday Walk.

2. Our wonderful (and often taken-for-granted) EYESIGHT.

3. HR’s nickname … Squirrel.

New ornament

4. Washington Square at dusk. We live just off Washington Square in downtown Savannah. (Savannah has 22 extant squares, and ours is the northeast most one near the river.)

It’s one of my favorite places to read or rest.

5. Underrated beauty in fall’s scraggly bushes.

May you find lotsa beauty this weekend.
