Five Friday Happy Bringers 7/7/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Joyful Sunflowers from the Forsyth Farmers Market here in Savannah.

And when they started to bow down their heads oh so dramatically, I figured out another way to extend their life a bit.

Sunflower heads-up in a bowl of water.

2. At Barnes & Noble, HR holding up Kitty Corn from the book we bought granddaughter Isabelle for her fifth bday.

See why she’s called “Kitty Corn”?

(We bought Kitty Corn too. She wanted to get out of retail.)

3. Short pants in the summer.

4. Spices and Herbs! What a blessing they add to our culinary lives.

5. Breathing in and breathing out.

May you have a spicy weekend ahead!

The production opens July 7.

3. This week walking one of the trails (by myself, quite unusual, R and I are usually together 24/7 ) at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge near us.

4. My Feet

Benny and my (old man) feet

5. Air conditioning.

AIR CONDITIONING!

May you have a cool weekend ahead.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 6/23/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Getting all cultured, attending the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s 2023 Season Finale with incredible first-year-in-Atlanta conductor Nathalie Stutzmann.

“Bolero” was stunningly, movingly beautiful.

2. Fresh farm peaches from Ellijay, GA. Sweet and juicy (sorta like “Bolero”)!

3. Being thankful for my eyesight.

4. Seeing the world premiere of circus-based musical “Water for Elephants” at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. I loved the novel and was uber excited to hear that it was coming out as a play.

5. Celebrating Robert’s birthday (the young upstart) at Truva, a terrific little Turkish restaurant in the hip Virginia Highland neighborhood near Midtown Atlanta.

Yum!

We chose the Mixed Kebabs for two: Chargrilled Adana | Chicken Kebab | Beef Kebab | Shaved Doner | Turkish Style Rice | Grilled Tomatoes.

May you have a delicious weekend ahead!

Five Friday Happy Bringers 6/16/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Visiting this teeny farm market at Nu Sunrise Farms in Griffin, GA.

All sales were based on the honor system! Here is Robert paying for our vine ripened tomatoes and goat’s milk with lavender body lotion.

2. Having enough money to buy tomatoes and goat’s milk lotion.

3. Watching the Atlanta Braves beat the Colorado Rockies 8-3 last night at Truist Firld.

HR gets a tad excited at the big plays.

4. My homemade chicken and dumplings.

5. Art submerged in aquariums! A new exhibition at the University of Georgia Aquarium over on Skidaway Island near us.

May your weekend ahead be submerged in joy and discovery.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 5/26/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Yummy little pre-Memorial Day hot dogs at nearby and hip Sly’s Sliders and Fries.

2. After years of living and walking in Savannah’s historic district, still discovering neat little gardens and courtyards hidden behind old brick walls and wrought iron gates.

3. Eyesight. And my new glasses which allow my seeing.

4. Attending grandchildren’s end-of-school-year honors ceremonies.

5. The power of a pickle!

Paired with my veggie-loaded tuna salad topped with spicy chow chow.

Have you tried this brand?

Oh my GOODness!

May you dive into a pickle-worthy weekend ahead!

Five Friday Happy Bringers 5/19/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. This beautiful head of cabbage we got a nearby farm store, Pittman’s Country Market, over in Lyon, Ga.

We were fortunate enough to see the farmers hauling in the freshly picked cabbages.

2. Having dinner with grandson Daniel—far right—and his three best buddies (all actors like him).

Nearly impossible to keep up with their energy, but Robert and I had a blast!

3. Our refrigerator. It keeps things cold! And it even has a section that freezes! Do you have one? What an incredible blessing that I so often take for granted.

4. Robert’s fried (okay, okay, I know, fried) okra (okay, okay, I know, okra) the other evening.

Yum!

5. And corn on the cob.

I hope you have a delicious weekend ahead.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 5/12/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. Grandtwin Matthew as Walt Disney for a school project.

2. “This Cat.” In the early evening, I often walk out to one of our Savannah squares near where HR and I live. To read. And “This Cat” ALWAYS makes an appearance when I go to Warren Square.

“This Cat”

3. Our fingernails and toenails. I’m not exactly sure why they make me happy. But they are such a part of us. And they’re SO determined. You have to cut them pretty often.

4. Exploring the nearby Effingham (County) Historical Museum with a couple of buddies.

5. A dolly from yesteryear.

5. The struggling but still here U.S. Postal Service.

May good health and true happiness be delivered to your door this weekend.
