Shhh.

Shhh.
Marveling!
So the other evening Robert and I drove over to daughter Amy‘s house on Skidaway Island (Savannah) to walk doggy Coastal while her fam was out of town.

When Coastal, HR and I started meandering toward the next-door neighbor’s house, we saw this …

Wait, you need it in color. So let’s send Robert closer.

Either very cute or terrifying! This Rudolph has to be the biggest reindeer in the history of the world.
***********************
I was so startled that a few of my photos came out quirky because of my nervously, shaking hands …

Or did that Holiday Giant have special Holiday Powers?

We urged Coastal to finish her business quickly and hastened our way back to the safe house.

We left Coastal and her brother-from-another-mother Little Kitty at peace and watching the chimney with care.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.
1. My favorite summer lunch: simple Tomato Sandwich with vine-ripe tomatoes, accompanied by mayo, thinly sliced Vidalia onions, and a sprinkling of fresh thyme, salt and pepper.

Oh my GOODness!

2. Going to Tybee Island Post Theater to see grandson Daniel’s final Savannah play before heading off to musical theatre college in the fall.

Daniel played the part of Jack (as in Jack and the beanstalk) in Into the Woods.

3. I know I say this often, but what a blessing air-conditioning is. I know it’s very hot in many, many places, but here in Savannah the heat is exacerbated by ridiculously thick humidity.

Weekend:

But as Marjorie Taylor Greene says, there’s no climate crisis!
4. The ability to lift my coffee cup up to my mouth each morning. What a blessing!

5. Our overly photographed kitty cat Benny.

May you have an Overpopulation of Good this last weekend in July.

Well, I’m both moaning AND marveling this Monday morn.
I’m dealing with some frustratingly “I’m-getting-older!” arthritis issues, especially in my creaky knees.
My microwaveable heating pad is an indispensable MARVEL for temporary relief.

Benny is getting older as well—going on 16 now.

He needs the heating pad too.
My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.
1. The delicious simplicity of a good hot dog.

2. Completing 1800 meditation sittings with my Happier app.

SURELY I should be a little more enlightened by now?!
3. The ability to … Stretch. I’m having some arthritis issues, and simple stretching often helps with the pain.
4. My old front door. It has welcomed us home many a time.

5. Benny needing his rest this morn (on my I’m-still-wearing-them Christmas jammies).

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.
1. Watching this beautifully tall and obviously-in-love couple leaning toward each other at Amerson River Park in Macon, GA yesterday. (Robert and I were taking a walk, waiting for time to check into our Airbnb.)

May they live happily ever after.
2. Finishing a fascinating novel about the timely subject of trans men and women. Both hilarious and heartwarming. I’m so glad we found the book.

This is the 198th book Robert and I have read together.
May we continue to be able to read what we want to read in this nation – and not only what “the government” wants us to read.
3. The ability to feel — physically feel. I have been struggling with more arthritis pain than usual lately. Frustratingly, in several areas of my body. And I’m a big baby when it comes to pain.
As I was moaning and groaning recently, HR reminded me that at least I can feel. Some people can’t even do that. After fighting off the urge to inflict pain upon him, I realized he is right.
4. Once we settled into our Airbnb (three rooms of a crumbling but still beautiful Southern mansion in Macon’s Old Town), we went out onto the huge shared front porch …

… and were promptly welcomed by the Friendly Neighborhood Greeter.

5. Our Travel Buddies (who go with us everywhere) hovering under the tulips HR picked up to brighten our Airbnb.

May you pick up something to brighten your weekend ahead!
