Thursday Doors: “Not the Main Door” 4/23/26

On a recent spring morning walk here in Savannah, my eye kept going to doors that were not the main door to a house or dwelling.

Like this one, which sort of looks like a garage door, but on closer inspection (i.e. spying through the cracks), I saw that this rooster door led to a small courtyard.

Can you see how the door opens to the left of #5?

A bit farther down the alley where I was walking, I came upon this vine-topped garage door.

And I love chancing upon iron gates, which are often doors leading to beauty.

Jasmine is sprouting up all over Savannah.

Look at the morning light spilling through the black iron!

And looking through another gate, spring charm exploded.

I hope you walk through some doors into beauty on this Thursday.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 10/28/22

1. Grand twins Matthew and Madison, along with little sister Isabelle and all their cool socks, on Crazy Sock Day at school.

2. Politically CORRECT Halloween decorations near us here in Historic District Savannah.

As in 2020, our Southern state is again paramount in keeping our U.S. democracy alive.

3. Celebrating the wonder of a smile.

4. Fall doors in Savannah.

5. The setting sun. And knowing that it will rise again in the morn.

Wishing you a joyful day from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.

My Saturday Evening Post: 10/1/22 “Every Doorway”

I have always had a love affair with doors, especially eccentric doors.

Doors beckon, or deny.

Here’s one I saw today on a walk with Robert in our Historic District Savannah. It had a storied past, don’t you think?

Our old front door.
Self-explanatory

A cool gay door.
On our wedding day in December 2016. In front of where we got married in the courtyard of this tiny house. Circa late 1700’s.

Here’s to Doors!
