Five Friday Happy Bringers 3/29/24. “Baltimore Edition”

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

For quite a while, Robert and I have been planning a trip up to Baltimore to visit a handful of his aging aunts and other relatives in the city and surrounding area.

Our early morning flight from Savannah landed in the Baltimore/Washington International Airport about 9 am this past Tuesday. What a shock it was to us when we turned our phones back on to see the horrorific news about the disaster of the Francis Scott Key Bridge about 15 miles away. And as we found out later, six workers were missing and presumed dead.

1. Ironically enough, first on our agenda before we checked into our Airbnb later in the day was to visit the gravesites of Robert’s mother in Maryland National Memorial Park …

And his father and stepmom in Arbutus Cemetery …

2. We LOVED going back to our favorite Baltimore crab cake restaurant, G and M.

3. Reveling in the ravishing Baltimore daffodils.

Here’s a fascinating little independent film I produced, wrote and directed titled “Daffodil Hunching.” (Watch carefully for my guest star.)

(HR didn’t know he was in the film.)

4. Seeing the beauty and truth of this Ukrainian Catholic Church across from Patterson Park in Baltimore.

5. Finding the coolest Free Little Library.

And three books!

I hope you’ve had a Good Good Friday and will enjoy a Great Easter Weekend ahead.

1. Savannah Wisteria in March.

The aroma!

2. A yummy breakfast of candied sweet potatoes, fresh cut pineapple and market style bacon.

In our Love dishes!

3. More Savannah beauties.

4. My Sweet and Spicy Shrimp Pineapple Boats with Thai Chili Sauce from the other night.

They were a hit!

5. The belief that our bodies know how to be well and are always trying to move toward wellness.

May you have a Healthy Weekend ahead!

T-Shirt Tuesday: “Farm Passport”

So last year, Robert and I joined Georgia’s uber-cool Farm Passport Program.

“The Farm Passport is your guide to discover Georgia, support local farms and experience fresh food. Grab your passport and let it guide you across the state to see the diversity of agriculture Georgia offers.

The Farm Passport features over 90 farms included in Georgia Farm Bureau’s Certified Farm Markets program, which was created to help people discover where their food comes from, meet the farm families who grew the food, and create lasting memories with loved ones as they travel the state.” Farm Bureau, GA

We had a blast and visited 22 Georgia Farms.

Last weekend we made a little trip to Macon to pick up our prizes and to explore old town Macon a bit.

Here I am with one of the leaders of the Passport Program.

And look! Here I am with HR and our nifty new Farm Traveler T-shirts. (After all, remember, it’s T-shirt Tuesday.)

And here are a few images from our time in Macon, which by the way is (was?) my birthplace.

The cool ceiling of our Airbnb …

Five Friday Happy Bringers 3/8/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. HR’s beautifully delicious fresh Veggie Fajitas.

HR arranging it all. Sort of frustrated with me for telling him to please hurry up, “I’m hungry.”

YUM!

2. Voting!

More important now than ever before.

3. The privilege of waking up each morning. (Everybody doesn’t.)

4. Narcissus. Now! Now?

5. The sky!

Amerson River Park, Macon GA

Look up this Weekend!

Sometimes

Sometimes you just have to breathe, lean over and rest.

How I discovered our little pink hyacinth this morning on the breakfast table.

Then HR woke up and, without so much as a “Good Morning” made Hy stand right back up!

LIFE IS TOUGH.

Five Friday Happy Bringers 3/1/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. HR cavorting around in local bamboo.

2. This incredible salad from the other day. Do you know the joy of salad?!

3. Grandson Gabriel being a standout in the regional basketball championship for eighth graders here in Savannah.

And here he is continuing to hog the trophy.

(FYI: I yelled and clapped far too inappropriately loud at times.)

4. Having at least a dozen reasons to smile everyday! (What have you smiled about today?)

5. Savannah’s Perfectly Pretty in Pink February!

Okay, maybe I have more than five Happy Bringers this Friday …

6. Beautiful morning coffee and breakfast burrito at nearby cool and hip Origin Coffee Bar. (Because of course I know what is cool and hip.)

7. This animal-looking stump thingy Robert and I saw on our Fort Pulaski/Cockspur Island hike the other day.

I sorta wanted to hug him.

Weekend hugs to you!

I HAVE To Show You These!

I know I have been posting pictures of Savannah‘s camellias pretty often lately (emphasis on “pretty”), but I just HAVE to share a few photos from Robert’s and my trip to the Savannah Botanical Gardens this morning.

Here’s one named for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

But my favorite was this stunning White Princess from the massive camellia bush above.

The Beauty of Mother Nature!
