Something very powerful I heard in my college days at an LGBT conference:
“Don’t let them make you justify yourself by explaining you didn’t choose to be gay. This sounds defensive, as if you wouldn’t be gay if you could have chosen otherwise. Instead, when they say its a choice, respond “So what if it is? It’s still my choice to make, not yours.” While I know, and recognize the importance of understanding, that our attractions are inborn, a good point was made and I still think about it to this day (obviously.)
