Five Friday Happy Bringers 3/1/24

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. HR cavorting around in local bamboo.

2. This incredible salad from the other day. Do you know the joy of salad?!

3. Grandson Gabriel being a standout in the regional basketball championship for eighth graders here in Savannah.

And here he is continuing to hog the trophy.

(FYI: I yelled and clapped far too inappropriately loud at times.)

4. Having at least a dozen reasons to smile everyday! (What have you smiled about today?)

5. Savannah’s Perfectly Pretty in Pink February!

Okay, maybe I have more than five Happy Bringers this Friday …

6. Beautiful morning coffee and breakfast burrito at nearby cool and hip Origin Coffee Bar. (Because of course I know what is cool and hip.)

7. This animal-looking stump thingy Robert and I saw on our Fort Pulaski/Cockspur Island hike the other day.

I sorta wanted to hug him.

Taize

I love this current liturgical season of Lent on the Christian calendar. For me, it’s a time to calm down, quiet down, and reflect before the exuberant excitement of Easter.

For the four Wednesdays before Palm Sunday, the church that Robert and I attend, Asbury Memorial here in Savannah, holds brief and beautifully simple Taize services.

“The Taizé prayer service is from an interfaith community founded in Taizé, France in 1940. A Taizé service provides a meditative style of song and prayer known for its simplicity and focus on Christ. Today the Taizé community comprises those of Catholic and Protestant backgrounds from regions around the globe. At a Taizé service we pray as we sing, as we reflect on the Scripture reading, as we sit in silence, and as we offer our prayers to Christ.” jaxcathedral.org

I HAVE To Show You These!

I know I have been posting pictures of Savannah‘s camellias pretty often lately (emphasis on “pretty”), but I just HAVE to share a few photos from Robert’s and my trip to the Savannah Botanical Gardens this morning.

Here’s one named for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

But my favorite was this stunning White Princess from the massive camellia bush above.
