Going Coastal

So Robert and I live in beautiful Historic District Savannah …

Savannah.com

… about 20 minutes from Tybee Island …

… and the Atlantic Ocean.

Tybee Island

Living near the coast is terrific.

But it does get on my nerves a teeny tiny bit that “Coastal” is incorporated into SO many businesses, organizations, etc. here.

My dermatologist is Coastal Dermatology.

My dentist is Coastal Dentistry.

My chiropractor is Coastal Chiropractic

Even my daughter Amy owns a local health care company called COASTAL Care Partners, for goodness sake!

And she has a dog named (of course) Coastal.

Who may or may not be gay.

Monday Moaning or Monday Marveling? 12/11/23 “Seven”

Definitely marveling today.

Robert and I are up in Atlanta for a week celebrating our Seventh Wedding Anniversary.

We’re staying at a very cool Airbnb with a terrific view of the Atlanta skyline from our balcony.

Other than sitting on the balcony, we’ve seen a beautifully moving performance of A Christmas Carol at The Alliance Theatre …

God blessed us everyone!

And The Nutcracker at The Cobb Energy Center …

(Do you think at 71 I’m a bit too old to become a world-famous male ballet dancer?)

For our anniversary dinner, we went to the beautiful Atlanta Fish Market.

Afterwards, I went to the market section of the restaurant and bought HR a good-sized fish for our anniversary—and then had our picture taken in front of it before it was iced and wrapped to be taken home.

Tonight we head to The Atlanta Botanical Garden for their FABULOUS Garden Lights, Holiday Nights outdoor lights display.

Come and go with us! Help us celebrate 7.

“The Best Part!”

So when HR went to see the latest superhero movie today, I rushed over to Chick-fil-A for my first Holiday Peppermint Shake of the season.

Festive Yum!

But the terrifically decadent treat wasn’t even the best part. Oh no! No it was not!

Guess what was?

The folks at Chick-fil-A told me I was the BEST PART of TODAY!!! Me, the best part of their day!

See? Neal! Little me from Savannah, Georgia! Out of the thousands (millions?!) of people who ate at Chick-fil-A today!

Aren’t you proud of me?!

(I’m assuming it meant the world, and not just the United States.)

Pretty Accident

I have had more than my fair share of “accidents” involving placing my cell phone in the front pocket of my pants. More often than not, pocket dialing far too many folks on my contact list.

I don’t know why my cell phone can’t simply behave himself like our old telephones used to do. They certainly never “accidentally” land-lined my primary care physician multiple times in one day … on his personal number. But then again, I think it was the doctor’s fault for giving me his private number to begin with. What was he thinking?

Last night, however, I had a “pretty accident.” I reached into my pocket and pulled out my cellphone, which was inexplicably showing me the tail end of my “Recents” photo album …

But I wasn’t mad at myself this time. I thought the “accident” was kinda pretty, with its pinkish, bluish purple.

Oh, and that girl in the black outfit toward the bottom is grandtwin Madison, dressed in this year’s Halloween costume—Wednesday from The Addams Family.

But how on earth did I manage to “pocket dial” “picture taking” … multiple times?! And how did those colors become photos?

(Maybe I should non-accidentally text the pretty, colorful pic to my doctor.)

Five Friday Happy Bringers 10/13/23

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

Happy Beautifully Lucky Friday the 13th!

1. A couple of Fall Doors near us …

2. HR and me (I?) shopping at Herb Creek Nursery here in Savannah.

For some reason, Robert decided to pose all uppity. Like he created those plants.

3. The delicious simplicity of pasta sauce …

4. Our toes!

Look down and thank them real quick.

5. Incredible books!

May this weekend be a Garden of Joy for you!

“Yolking It”

So here’s a little shot of a corner of our kitchen. Our trio basket of perishables. Some of our cook books. A few spices.

But wait, before you move on, take a moment to look back up in the upper left hand corner of the photo.

See them? Two little chicken heads.

When both of them transitioned to our home via Amazon, I had no idea what they were.

But Robert had … adopted them.

I endured their relentless clucking for several days until I finally confronted HR and asked him, “Why? What?”

Unfazed by my frustrated confusion, he simply directed me to look at their mouths

“Oh … kay…” I answered, still not understanding.

“Neal, you crack an egg into the crown of the cute little dish. Then you tilt it forward and only the egg white pours out of the mouth!!!

He explained this with absolute thrill.

I stared at him, dumbfounded.

“But I just crack the egg and pour out the white carefully, “I replied.

Robert just stared back.
