One of the great rewards about living where we do in Historic District Savannah is that I can walk two blocks over toward the Savannah River, find a bench, read, and experience the Joy of Nature.
That’s the Savannah River behind me. Looking so peaceful now. But don’t be fooled. It is one of the busiest ports in the nation. And all of the ships travel right behind me.
But not at this moment.
Peace.
So today I reached this milestone in my meditation practice …
Shouldn’t I be a guru or something?
So why do I still feel like such a novice?
So I was minding my own business this morning, waiting “patiently” in the car, while Robert did who knows what at a UPS store.
I looked out my passenger side window and saw this …
“Weeds,” I dismissively thought.
Then the sort of chubby one in the middle said to me, “Why are you judging us?”
And then that smaller one to the left said, “What gives you the right?“
Embarrassed, I looked again.
And then I saw my very favorite color,GREEN, beautifully rejoicing in the morning sun.
And I had to agree with so many other folks smarter than me …
Ouch!

1922 — Anita — 2022
Today our church, Asbury Memorial here in Savannah, celebrated the life of our oldest member Anita Clay, who passed away this week at the age of 100.
Anita led an amazing life. One tiny snippet: She was a founding member of the local quirky, funky Crabettes band.
We will miss you, our Anita.
May you beautifully Rest in Peace.
Oh, and the Crabettes played at the luncheon following Anita’s joyous memorial service.

Over the valley and through the woods, gathering collards we go. 🎶
Walking in Habersham Village toward our favorite little bar and grill in Savannah, Robert and I saw this …
A mountain of beautiful pre-Thanksgiving collards! Being carefully pulled into our favorite little neighborhood grocer, The Red and White.
The sight brought a sudden jolt of JOY into my heart.
I love collards! They are deliciously beautiful. And they exude such leafy and cruciferous strength.
Collards greens have strong spines!
