Five Friday Happy Bringers 2/3/23

1. Walking out into a Savannah square near us to read. Sending a selfie to Robert.

And getting his response

2. Being able to walk. To put one foot in front of the other, time and time again. What a blessing!

3. HR decorating our little sidewalk tree trunk garden, with some fallen camellia blossoms.

4. Learning about joy from the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

(Our 162nd book we have read together.)

5. Beautiful food.

HR’s Chicken Parmesan

Here’s hoping your weekend is beautifully delicious.

Resurrection!

HR and I drove to our favorite Savannah library this morn to return a book we had just finished. [Boys Come First, our 161st (!) book we have read together.]

Walking out of the Bull Street Library, I saw this incredible old Live Oak …

It rained yesterday, so the resurrection fern was in proud display.

Walk closer with me.

If it doesn’t rain anymore, in a couple of days, the resurrection fern will dry up, be dark brown, and look dead.

Until the next rain.

Kitty in the Square

Historic District Savannah has 22 beautiful extant squares. Plus two more that were partially destroyed by “progress.“

On an evening walk near us today, I came across this kitty resting in Warren Square.

“Hello there,” I said, trying to project friendliness.

“Hmmm,” he sighed.

“The Artful Dodger“ #16

A blog category about finding “art” in unexpected places and situations.

Minding my own business and gobbling up Robert’s yummy EBB (egg, bacon, and biscuit breakfast) …

… I took a few-seconds break and put my fork down to breathe.

That’s when I saw her …

A cute little chick perched upon an amber crag, nearly blending in.

“How adorable,” I thought, “I wonder how she/he got inside the apartment.”

But if truth be told, I did not wonder long. I picked up my fork.

Birthday CardS

HR is continuing his quirkily unorthodox tradition of giving me MULTIPLE birthday cards. It started on Saturday, continued Sunday and Monday, leading up to today, my actual birthday.

I find them all over the place: in my daily planner, in the front of the tv, even next to the toilet (tmi?).

I used to think it was odd to get more than one bday card from the same person, but now I look forward to Robert’s card extravaganza.
