Miami Day Two: Water-ing

We began Miami Full Day One with petfecto pastries at Rosetta’s Bakery near our AirBnB here in the Brickell district of downtown Miami.

Next, we walked (oh my gosh, did we walk!) to the Bayside Marketplace on Biscayne Bay for our 9:30 Miami and Miami Beach boat tour.

An afternoon swim at the pool.

Today was Robert’s bday, and we celebrated at the beautifully delicious Truluck’s restaurant.

Which had a lighted menu!

Sharing a shrimp cocktail appetizer.

Fruity water (which somehow seemed pretty appropriate) …

The Stone Crab Claw Platter for HR. Sweet and Spicy Grouper for me.

And a surprise Baked Alaska dessert, courtesy of the restaurant.

We ended our special day with a dazzling nighttime view of Miami aboard the touristry fun Skyviews Observation Wheel.

A beautiful birthday celebration around the water.

Miami Day One: Train-ing

This morn, before the rooster began to crow …

… Robert and I headed to the Savannah Amtrak Station to board a train (a 12-hour train!) to Miami to celebrate HR’s bday. He has been wanting to take a longer train trip for a while now.

What a fun day!

Our little private “roomette.”

Surprisingly, delicious breakfast in the dining car:

A long day, but wonderful service and very comfortable accommodations.

More about our Miami trip tomorrow. We are here till Sunday,

No Kings! Savannah Edition

wsav

Yesterday Robert and I joined 2000 other Savannah area protesters to voice a resounding “No!” to the Trump administration’s lean toward authoritarianism and strong man politics which are attempting to destroy our nation’s soul.

Inspiring and encouraging speeches, lively posters and joyful camaraderie/solidarity.

I thought I was going to have to take HR’s little megaphone away from him!

From our mayor …

And this poster expressed part of the reason I attended this incredible event …

“Let Freedom Ring, and there be No King.”

Five Friday Happy Bringers 6/13/25

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.

1. LOVE-ly coffee.

Origin Coffee Bar, Savannah

2. Watching (spying on?) and documenting my Handsome Hubby, as he walks toward our little car heading to an appointment.

“Parting is such sweet sorrow.”

3. Spices! Robert and I love them.

Our spice drawer ..

Simply Organic is my favorite spice brand.

Our spice shelf …

Our Spice Club! …

Once a month or so, our local library offers patrons a new spice, along with an explanation and several recipes. This month is a spice I have never heard about before: Summer Savory.

“Summer savory, Satureja hortensis, is a sweet- and spicy-smelling herb, lighter in flavor than winter savory. It is a member of the Lamiaceae, or mint family, and is indigenous to the Mediterranean region. It is also closely related to rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, and mar-joram. Summer savory had both culinary and medicinal uses in ancient Greece and Rome.” Bull Street Library Spice Club

4. The amazing ability to simply Pay Attention. (That trait is sometimes a bit of a challenge for me and my “all over the map” brain.)

5. I SO appreciate the theme of this year’s Pride Festival in Atlanta.

May we all have a weekend where, even on the most minute of levels, we Realize that we can Resist that which attempts to damage our lives.

World Oceans Day 2025

“World Ocean Day unites and rallies the world to protect and restore our blue planet!

Since launching global coordination in 2002, World Ocean Day has grown from an idea to thousands of events and millions of people reached each year. The World Ocean Day network includes 2,000+ organizations in 180 countries.

Following a four-year petition  drive with our international network, the United Nations officially recognized the Day in 2008.” unworldoceansday.org

Robert and I are fortunate to live about twenty minutes from the ocean—the Atlantic Ocean. Tybee Island (aka Savannah Beach).
