My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.
1. Yummy Muscadine Barbecue Wings I made the other night.

2. Walking into PetSmart and seeing this Halloween costume display for doggies.

Seriously?

3. Our sense of Sound. What are you hearing right now? Pause for a second and be mindful of all the sounds in your experience at this moment. Even if some of those sounds are perhaps a bit annoying (hello neighborhood dog that will not stop barking), still, what a blessing to be able to hear!
4. Being mesmerized by more than 10,000 pumpkins (!) on display on a recent trip to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

(P.S. I asked one of the garden workers what would happen to all of the pumpkins when they were removed. She told me they would be made into mulch for the garden. I felt better after that.)
5. This quirky drawing of a goat.

May something quirky give you a bit of happiness this weekend!
Muscadine ? What’s that ?

As an old goat myself, I found him so lifeline. Btw, we are watching Boots. It’s terrific!

Thank you!! Loved the combinations of pumpkins, gourds, etc. Also loved the goats. With the White House being destroyed to make room for a gigantic, vulgar ballroom, we need some whimsy and quirkiness with our daily bread.
Up here in Massachusetts we have two bridges crossing the Cape Cod Canal at different points. In summer, these bridges are bumper to bumper traffic hour after hour and in the winter hundreds of people cross these bridges, in both directions, for work, medical care, etc. We’re in the middle of repairing these old and functionally obsolete structures (the Sagamore and the Bourne were both opened in 1935. They’re even older than I and I’m older than dirt!) And guess what—”More than $11 billion in funding for “lower-priority” projects will be paused by the US Army Corps of Engineers, White House officials announced late last week. White House budget director Russell Vought said in a social media post that the funding disruption was the result of the government shutdown, which he blamed on Democrats.” The fun never ends.

Oooooohhhh … those wings look to die for!!! My mouth is watering!!!! As re #3, since I am 90% deaf, I hear very few sounds … and while it is frustrating in many ways, I do appreciate the silence sometimes, too. I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!!! It’s c-c-cold here … we have a freeze warning in effect and when I went out on the patio for a cigarette, I only smoked half of it before the cold had me shaking so hard I couldn’t hold onto it! But, better the cold than the unbearable heat we had in August, yes? My daughter’s 55th birthday is Sunday, so we will enjoy celebrating that this weekend!

The wings were insane. Wow, it’s really cold your way! We’re still in the upper 70s during the day. I could actually go for a bit of colder weather. Happy weekend ahead!
