Tonight was the first of our church’s five Taizé services during the Lenten season leading up to Easter Sunday. (Asburymemorial.org)

I LOVE the quiet, almost somber, beauty of Taizé.
A little about the history of Taizé:
“The Taizé prayer service is from an interfaith community founded in Taizé, France in 1940. A Taizé service provides a meditative style of song and prayer known for its simplicity and focus on Christ. Today the Taizé community comprises those of Catholic and Protestant backgrounds from regions around the globe. At a Taizé service we pray as we sing, as we reflect on the Scripture reading, as we sit in silence, and as we offer our prayers to Christ.” jaxcathedral.org

TONIGHT’S INVITATION: “Come into this place of peace and let its silence heal your spirit; Come into this place of memory & let its history warm your soul; Come into this place of prophecy and power and let its vision change your heart.”
Tonight’s theme focused on light.

And the MUSIC/CHANT:
“Lord Jesus Christ, your light shines within us.
Let not my doubts, and my darkness speak to me.
Lord Jesus Christ, your light shines within us.
Let my heart always welcome your love.”

Whatever your belief, or lack of, may Peace be your Portion at this time of year.

I might have gotten the Cool Card …

… but I know who HR’s True Valentine is …

So tonight, I made Espresso Martinis for Robert and me.

I settled on the couch, and kitty cat Benny jumped into my lap.

Okay, “Rest little one.”
But then, lo and behold, a FOX jumped into my (beautiful) martini glass …

We talked a while.
Then somehow, he disappeared.

And that’s my Saturday Evening Post.

Grandson Daniel, along with his mom, are up in New York this weekend for more musical theater auditions for college next year.
After auditioning for NYU, Juilliard and Pace, their flight back to Savannah got canceled tonight because of winter weather.
So what to do?
Run outside and try to grab a snowflake or two, of course.

My weekly gratitude journal, of sorts.
1. Squirrels in our living room!

HR’s nickname is Squirrel.

2. The beauty of aging wood.

3. Clean water to drink. I SO take this incredible blessing for granted.
4. Our wonderful morning hike yesterday at J. F. Gregory Park down in Richmond Hill, about 45 minutes south of Savannah.

The park is home to a huge series of canals built in the 1800s (by enslaved persons) for rice cultivation. The canals flow into the Oveechee River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

5. Flowers. We usually buy an inexpensive bouquet or two each week, divide them up and spread them around the house.

Flowers, like food, are essential to life.

May this weekend flower you with joy. At least, a little bit.

After we gobbled down our Christmas Toast, searched through our Christmas Stockings …

… and opened our Christmas Gifts …

Robert and I headed out for our Christmas Morning Walk here in Historic District Savannah.
Festive beauty had us marveling.

Now, that’s a bow!

Joyful Christmas Season to You!

Merriest of Christmases to You!
