Did you see this breaking news?

Yes! Wonderful!
Here are a few pics from my marriage ceremony with Robert back in 2016.

Beautiful memories. And now it seems that our marriage will be protected.

P.S. But WHY, tell me why, would 36 Republican senators vote AGAINST codifying gay marriage? Against Robert and me being married? What is their reasoning?
Robert and I have been enjoying (well, mostly) leftovers from our Thanksgiving family gathering. He likes the turkey heated up, while I prefer it cold (#152 on our list of differences).
The green bean casserole and sweet potato pie may be reduced to near crumbs in our fridge, but not the memories of the fun and laughter from Thanksgiving Day.
Here are a few leftover smiles and laughs.

Leftovers can be deliciously fulfilling.

If you’ve read much of my little blog, you may remember that it doesn’t take much to make me giddily happy.
Think Red Hots.

When I am in the depths of despair, if you hand me a box of Red Hots, all of a sudden, I am a 10 on the Happiness Scale. Like a toddler.
So tonight as I was preparing a Thanksgiving Post-Gluttonous Salad for HR and me, I saw all the beginning-to-wilt produce from our holiday meals. And felt sad. (I obviously needed Red Hots.)
So I decided to make broth!!!
I make homemade broth regularly with leftover vegetable scraps. Don’t you? And use it for soups, stews, smoothies, or just a healthy sip.

Tonight I plopped in scraps from green onions, bok choy, celery, spinach and yellow onions.

In a few minutes, I will smell the incredible aroma and then pour the life-enhancing elixir into these …

Peaceful Sunday Night Slumber to You.

The finished product …

I love Thanksgiving!
I always have. It is so wonderful for our nation to have a special day set aside for GRATITUDE.
Except …
What we often forget (or at least try to forget) (or refuse to even believe) is that the traditional First Thanksgiving Day taught in grade school and fixed in our individual and national consciousness is a Disney-fied mythology.

Here’s a terrifically sobering post from a wonderful blog, “Esperational.” The You Tube video is eye- (and heart-) opening. Please take a moment to read the short post and watch the short video.

It has been my tradition on Thanksgiving to honor the other side of the story. For members of the first nations of this country this is a day of …

Difficult truths …

Why is Truth so often Difficult?!
I don’t think this means I can’t celebrate Thanksgiving Day, as long as I recognize that the mythologized beginning is historically inaccurate.
Maybe I should celebrate … Happy THANKS-giving.
My weekly list of a few “joy inciters” in my life. A Friday Gratitude Journal, of sorts.
1. My Thanksgiving cranberry sauce!

2. Having hands and fingers (even with my arthritis) which enable me to chop onions for Thanksgiving dressing, shake hands with strangers, pick up granddaughter Isabelle and hold hands with HR.
3. The novel I am currently reading in my study chair about a Black American woman caught between her privilege and her identity.

4. This little tree near us who is losing his beautiful leaves. But see how he is standing proud in spite of his de-clothing

5. Peanut butter.
May you have a weekend for which to give thanks.
So this year Robert and I hosted our big ole modern family’s Thanksgiving Gathering at Skidaway Island State Park here in Savannah.
We rented one of their picnic shelters near the playground and prayed for good weather.

20 of us in all this year.

HR is the family photographer and can get very bossy when telling people where and how to sit or stand.

A joyful gathering.
I hope you had a meaningful and peaceful Thanksgiving Day.
