Five Friday Happy Bringers 1/6/23

1. My Favorite Little Card from the holidays.

“Be Kind, Rain or Shine”

2. Memories of a Beautiful Christmas 2022.

On the sidewalk near us.

3. Shelter. A place to sleep, to lay my head at night.

4. Grandson Daniel, enjoying the “Harry Potter Experience” in Atlanta recently.

Remember Harry’s cramped sleeping quarters?

5. My Resolution #5 for 2023:

“LOOK FOR GOOD.”

May we all have a “good-looking” weekend ahead.

Bye, Bye, Boopers

Over the weekend, we noticed Robert’s older cat Boopers was having difficulty breathing.

And Sunday, Christmas Day, he was worse.

So Monday morn, HR dropped Boopers off at the vet. We went for breakfast and then got the call that Boopers was probably not going to make it much longer. Robert was shocked. We headed quickly back to the vet, only to be told the moment we walked in that Boopers was crashing. And then, that he had passed away.

Robert got to hold his beloved kitty one final time.

A few Boopers pics from the past.

The Older I Get

The older I get, the more I like pictures like this that Robert took today at our hiking outing at beautiful Wormsloe Historic Site just outside Savannah.

See? The emphasis is on the early evening light falling on the old cast-iron fence. And NOT on my now-completely white hair or deepening wrinkles.

Hello! From Wormsloe.

Countdown to Christmas: “Images of Peace” 12/3/22

For this blog category, “Countdown to Christmas: Images of Peace,” each day between December 1 and 25, I share some of our photography that invites rest, peace, tranquility and love.

1922 — Anita — 2022

Today our church, Asbury Memorial here in Savannah, celebrated the life of our oldest member Anita Clay, who passed away this week at the age of 100.

Anita led an amazing life. One tiny snippet: She was a founding member of the local quirky, funky Crabettes band.

We will miss you, our Anita.

May you beautifully Rest in Peace.

Oh, and the Crabettes played at the luncheon following Anita’s joyous memorial service.

Here’s a link to Anita’s full obituary …

Five Friday Happy Bringers 12/2/22

1. Seeing this display at Fresh Market snd thinking it was giving me life advice …

(I still think it’s pretty good life advice.)

2. Having a delightfully laidback and peaceful post-Thanksgiving meal with two of Robert’s children.

Left: Son Tavares and his girlfriend Leslie, Right: Daughter Stenneshia and HR.

3. The color green (my favorite).

In our bedroom.

4. Last night’s Design District Holiday Walk here in Savannah.

With the fanciest and most beautiful hors d’oeuvres I have ever seen.

5. HR’s fall-hearty and yummy chicken casserole the other night.

I hope your weekend casseroles around beautifully for you.
